We are pleased to make available on INATE the plenary presentations of the VTE Experts' Meetings 2004.

The VTE Experts' Meetings 2004, which focused on optimizing thromboprophylaxis in at-risk medical patients, were held in Panama, Latin America (co-chaired by Sylvia Haas, Germany, and Alex C. Spyropoulos, USA) and Brussels, Europe (co-chaired by Ajay Kakkar, UK, and Holger Lawall, Germany). Endorsed by the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH), the scientific program was designed to allow delegates to explore the different groups of patients at risk of VTE and to discuss how they are best managed. The plenary sessions, which were mirrored at the two meetings, covered the broad issue of the modern-day prevention of thrombosis.
